What is UnifIBD?

UnifIBD (unif-IBD) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to unifying those with IBD. Founded by two teenagers with Crohn’s Disease, UnifIBD strives to build a closely knit inflammatory bowel disease community. Established in 2023, we are prepared to hit the ground running with plans to organize awareness events, educational workshops, fundraisers, and charitable merchandise as we await IRS approval for our 501(c)(3) tax exempt status.

Our Mission

Our mission is to intertwine the various IBD communities and to establish impactful connections with informative and interactive events. UnifIBD is dedicated to raising awareness, providing support, and advancing research to enhance understanding and management of IBD, with the ultimate goal of improving the lives of individuals and families living with these complex diseases. With your time and energy, we can achieve this and form a loving community in our home of San Jose.

What is IBD?

Inflammatory Bowel Disease, commonly known as IBD, refers to a group of chronic inflammatory disorders that primarily affect the gastrointestinal tract. The main types of IBD are Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis, both of which cause symptoms including abdominal pain, fatigue, as well as psychological distress, anxiety, and depression. IBD is lifelong and unpredictable in nature, significantly impacting quality of life and casting a heavy toll on mental health, especially on patients diagnosed with early onset IBD.
